Will you get your hands on a WiiWhen it was announced that Nintendo’s next generation console would use a motion sensor remote as its primary control system, it was expected by many to live up to its name at the time and cause a revolution. And even though Nintendo decided to go with the name Wii, the consoles have been flying off the shelves – so much so that a site has been formed to track them down.

Darren Mckillop runs Wii-consoles.co.uk, a site that monitors stock of the much sought after console at retailers across the UK.

Users can be alerted if any Wii’s become available.

“No one can wave a magic wand, but our website is proving very popular, and has already helped thousands of people get hold of the Wii,” Mckillop said.

“Stock levels are currently worse than ever, but we will continue doing our utmost to point buyers in the right direction.”

Mckillop said there were rival sites doing the same job, but he believed Wii-consoles.co.uk offered the most up-to-date real time information.

Of course the console war in the UK won’t be complete until the PlayStation 3 enters the fray on the 23 March.

With that in mind Mckillop has also set up PS3-locator.co.uk to help frustrated gamers get their hands on Sony’s next-gen console.
