The box's Raid options include Raid 0 for maximum capacity and speed, Raid 0+1 for striping and mirroring data across the hard drives for data redundancy, as well as Raid 5 and Raid 5+ spare for a balance between performance and data protection. The box is also bundled with EMC Retrospective Express software for backup and disaster recovery options. The company said that with the software users can back up open files, verify backup integrity during the process, have scheduled backups proceed without logging in, and recover individual files or a complete system to any point in time. Ashley Ettwein, HDD product manager at Iomega said that people needed cost effective storage to meet their needs for data storage, protection and archiving. "Two terabytes of storage capacity with true hot-swappable drives and data redundancy options that can save data from being lost," he said. The appliance will be available from 10 April with a suggested price of $1,699 (£861). |
