While we’re rarely bowled over by the latest print technology, one innovation to come out of HP’s labs is good enough to catch our eye. The handheld device is an all-in-one printer and scanner that can splash smudge-free inks directly onto packaging.
That’ll be good news for the shipping, retail and manufacturing industries, as the 12-ounce unit can manage 1,250 prints and scans per hour. That gives the unit a four-hour usability, as its lithium ion battery is good for 5,000 prints. Naturally, its wireless capabilities allow it to send data such as bar codes to be processed by a computer, or to receive new information to be printed on packaging. If this little beauty hits your particular print perversion, there’s only months to wait as it’ll be here before the end of the year.
Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of HP's Imaging and Printing Group, unveiled the device during his keynote speech in New York. |
