tom_tom_speed_camera.jpgOf course we all obey the speed the limit at all times like the good citizen we are, but sometimes you like to know that a speed camera is just around the corner, just so you don't get tempted to break the law. Well, TomTom satnav users can now subscribe to a new service that warns you that the camera is just around the corner.

The TrafCam, available for the TomTom Go, One and Rider, covers fixed and mobile speed camera locations, and offers direction-sensitive and speed-sensitive camera warnings to help reduce false alarms common with other solutions. Users can select their own warning range based on distance or time to camera.

When the camera is within range, the device makes a sound to alert the driver. It also shows a message on the screen to describe the camera type, speed limit and distance, and draws an icon on the map display to show the position.

An easy-to-use program handles the download and installation from our web site to the TomTom device, and can periodically check for updates to the program or camera location database. The camera database is maintained by the company's own staff, and updates are released frequently.

A twelve month subscription costs £29, and a one month free trial subscription is available for download from its web site at www.trafcam.com

TrafCam is also available on a range of other devices, including Palm OS, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile PDAs, and mobile phones based on the Symbian operating system.
