Wipe away the sat-nav's suction marks to protect your car from break-insThere’s an old saying among thieves and conmen: never give a sucker an even break. And it seems that applies perfectly to the current trend for nicking satellite navigation devices.

Police in Gloucestershire are trying to end a spate of car break-ins by handing out 2,500 dusters to motorists.

The cloths – which have the phrase “Don’t be a sucker to thieves” printed on them – are being distributed to remind drivers to wipe the suction marks off their windscreens.

It seems the rise in car crime is happening because thieves hope to find one of the expensive systems in the glove box of a car showing the telltale signs.

Hopefully the exercise will be enough to give thieves the brush off. Thank you, we’re here all week.
