fujitsu_300gb_external_drive.jpgThose tiny external disk drives are all very well and good but they never seemed to pack the storage punch you needed. Fujitsu looks like it will change all this by unveiling the world's highest capacity 2.5inch external hard disk drive.

Its new drive boasts  a whopping 300GB of storage (enough to hold 25,000 songs) and an integrated USB cable.  Also, this little beauty doesn't need a separate power supply it gets its juice from your computer.

Fujitsu has bundled in a few applications in for good measure. This includes Cryptainer, EZ Gig II and Second Copy 2000.

The case is protected with a 16-point omni-directional shock mounting design which helps to reduce the effect of it being dropped on the floor (if you are prone to do that kind of thing).

"We are proud to launch the world's highest capacity 2.5" External HDD product into the marketplace at a time when consumers are demanding more storage, compact designs, and features that advance the level of data security," said Lorne Wilson, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Fujitsu Computer Products.

The Fujitsu External Hard Disk Drive will be available in the US for $229 in the third quarter of this year. A 120GB version will also be available at the same time for $129.
