Dell is spreading its branches a bit wider when it comes to selling its laptops. The PC maker has signed a deal with The Carphone Warehouse to give away PCs as part of an AOL broadband internet package.
The linkup will see the Dell laptop package offered over the internet, by phone and at some Carphone Warehouse stores. The AOL broadband deal sees customers getting a free Dell Inspiron laptop and wireless router if they sign on for a two-year contract at £19.99 per month. According to a Dell spokeswoman, it's all part of Dell's "evolving global retail strategy", so expect more deals like this in the future. "Offering systems in The Carphone Warehouse is a major opportunity for Dell to connect with customers we may not have necessarily reached in the past," she said. The Carphone Warehouse bought AOL UK's internet service in October 2006, after driving a truck containing £370m up to the doors of Time Warner. |
