If the rumours are true, the PS3 could be getting video-on-demand features and Freeview functionality in time for the Christmas build-up.
The features could make their way onto the next-gen console, according to reports from MCV. An announcement is due to be made by Sony at the Leipzig Games Convention next month and a Euro price cut is also in the offing.
As yet, Sony has yet to confirm these plans. MCV said that in an interview with SCEE boss David Reeves, he said that punters should expect some "fireworks" with an announcement and he prefered to make some big statements at Leipzig.
"We will be doing things no-one has seen yet for both PS3 and PSP," he told the website.
That's great - we can chuck away our Sony Freeview PVR and replace it with another one that sometimes plays games and Casino Royale.
Just so you know. the Leipzig Games Convention takes place in Germany from 23-26 August, with 400 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors attending the four-day event. And if anyone wants to take us there - please email us - we'd love to go!
