dsct5-01a.gifPoor old Sony can't seem to do anything right at the moment. If it's not the PS3 being late to shops or batteries in laptops catching fire then it's something else. It turns out the Japanese consumer electironics giant is having to recall some 350,000 Cybershot cameras as they appeared to have cut some people.

It was discovered recently that Cybershot DSC-T5 models have displayed peeling and warping of the metal coating at the bottom of the camera. The company also announced that not only will it replace the affected part of the camera, it will also stump up the cash for shipping the unit back to base for repairs.

The Cybershot DSC-T5 was launched back in 2005. The warping issue is thought to be caused by problems with the glue used to fix the coating onto the main body.

According to Sony spokesman Ryoko Takagi, cameras with serial numbers between 3500001 and 3574100 are affected. Around 284,000 of these units were sold in the US and another 66,000 in Japan. Around 30 customers in Japan reported that they received cuts and scratches while using the camera, with "several" in other regions reporting the same.

Customers in the US can visit Sony's support website at http://esupport.sony.com for more information or call Sony support at +1 877-573-7669. If you are in Japan, visit this website http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/ServiceArea/070802/

Good luck!
