LG is bringing quality sound and upscaled hi-def DVD images to the masses. Well, the masses who have around £250 burning a hole in their pockets. LG’s HT902TB home cinema system blasts out 1,000 watts of power – but it’s the stylish glossy black look that makes us want to add one to our living room.
The HT902TB comes with standalone tallboy speakers, as well as an XTS Pro Digital Amplifier, which LG says delivers excellent sound quality by balancing both high and low tones. The system uses LG’s own Virtual Sound Matrix (VSM) technology, which is designed to give a rich crystal-clear sound environment in the living room. “VSM creates five virtual speakers to replicate a 10.1Ch sound effect, allowing the sound to travel more smoothly around the room,” an LG statement echoed convincingly. The DVD player naturally has a HDMI connection to hook it up your HD TV (not much point upscaling without one). You can also plug in any other music kit through a standard 3.5 stereo jack; share music (WMA and MP3), photos (Jpegs) and Divx videos using the USB port; and watch anything stored on DVD, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs. “Dressed in gloss black, this piece of kit is the perfect accessory to other entertainment units, including LCD and plasma screens,” LG says. And on looks and promised functions we’d have to agree – roll on the review.
The HT902TB is available in the UK from this month. |
