Page 1 of 4 Accessories manufacturer Kensington has launched a new range of universal docking stations. No, they don’t let you guide a starship into the docking clamps. Yes, they do offer laptop computers some desktop functions. OK, so that’s not as exciting but it’s still blimmin’ useful.
“Comprising five different models, the range includes docks that provide excellent video performance, give additional USB ports, raise the laptop’s screen to the best viewing height and even keep the computer cool,” a stationary-yet-mobile Kensington PR bunny told us today. Kensington says the docks are designed to support the growing body of laptop-only users as they seek to use their portable PCs when working for longer periods of time.
Kicking off the range is the sd200v Notebook Expansion Dock with Video. ![]() The Kensington sd200v This enables the user to improve productivity by turning their laptop into a desktop complete with two screens, thanks to ‘DualView’ technology from DisplayLink that means the monitor can either ‘clone’ or ‘extend’ the laptop’s screen.
Apparently, all the peripherals are connected with a single USB plug and the device’s mini-tower design takes up less desk space.
