Nintendo WiiIt’s been a busy day for the Nintendo Wii. First, internet browser company Opera announced that a new version of the Internet Channel has started making its way to the world’s Wiis. And then Nintendo launched a new website so folk can share their tales of gaming joy.

Going back to that first point, the Internet Channel has added support for USB keyboards and enhanced the ways Wii friends can communicate.

Simply plug any standard USB keyboard into one of the two USB ports on your Nintendo Wii and you are ready to write email, compose blog posts, comment in forums and much more.

Several new keyboard-specific shortcuts have been added for the onscreen keyboard, such as using the B button on the Wii remote as a Shift key.

A ‘Send to a friend’ feature also allows you to send your favourite web links – or the page you are currently browsing – to friends you have added in your Wii.

Users can now also copy information from a web page and paste it directly into the search field.

Space for a further nine favourites has also been added, bringing the total to 56.

Users can visit the Wii Shop Channel to download the new version of the Internet Channel for 500 Wii Points (existing Internet Channel subscribers get it free).

Once you have got your new web browser, why not head to MyWiiStory.com to share anecdotes and fun tales with other Wii fanaticals.

“Every Wii owner has a unique Wii story to tell,” a Nintendo press release said today.

“The guy whose girlfriend could finally partake of his video gaming pastime – and win... the family whose weekly game night shifted from board games to video games... the mom who refused to let her son keep the Wii in his room – because she wanted to play too.”
