Network provider 3 launched the Skypephone on Monday. The phone lets you make free calls over the Internet when calling Skype’s PC users and other Skypephones. Now we’ve got our hands on it, here are our first impressions.
The phone comes in three different finishes; black, white with blue lining and white with pink lining. We've got the black version, which will probably be the most popular of the three. It's pretty basic in terms of looks, whatever version you choose. Its weight feels just about right; not too heavy not too light.
It comes with a charger, battery, headphones, sim card and USB cable for data transfer.
(Continued on next page...){mospagebreak}Quickly browsing through the phones
features we found it really easy to use. The first thing you notice
is the ‘Skype' button. Hitting this takes you straight to Skype's
sign in screen, and only took 30 seconds to log in and even shows you
who's online and who's not just like on your PC.
Other applications include Yahoo, Google
search, Windows Live Messenger, YouTube, Ebay and of course Facebook
and connection is relatively quick. We found using these a doddle. Again
it took around 30 seconds to check out some YouTube vids and return
a few pokes on Facebook. Although videos sometimes appeared a bit slow.
Texting is easy enough, although we
kept deleting some words by mistake, but we're sure this will be a
minor problem as we get used to the keypad layout.
So that's our initial look at the 3 Skypephone. Be sure to keep an eye on the site for a more detailed review when we've fiddled around with it a bit longer.
