As usual Neo Cortex - the villain
of the piece is the catalyst for proceedings. This time he has mutated
the wildlife of Crash's homeland into ghastly fiends fit for Cortex's
bidding, and of course, it's up to Crash to save the day. Upon starting the game, fans of the series will be thinking "What have they done to Crash?" Just like ‘The Legend of Zelda' series, the main protagonist has largely stayed silent, besides the odd gasp and grunt but in COTT the hero is reduced to a gibbering wreck, with annoying sounds forming his speech. There's probably a reason Link doesn't talk. Any charisma the marsupial once had has now gone.
But this is a minor complaint in the
grand scheme of things, especially for newcomers to the franchise. Much of the missions involve the same as usual, such as traversing the linear levels jumping from platform to platform while taking out the annoying minions along the way. And yes, they are that annoying. There won't be many videogame baddies you'll want to kill more than these, just to shut ‘em up if anything.
