Ubisoft has managed to pull off a bit of a coup this week as its much vaunted new epic adventure game Assassin's Creed. It has managed to hit the top spot in this weeks game chart compiled by ELSPA.

The game has also managed to set a new record as the second-fastest selling game on an individual format, just behind the 2002 game The Getaway on the PS2.

Assassin's Creed managed to out sell all other games two-to-one during the past week, making it the third fastest-selling Xbox 360 game behind Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.

Success is not just limited to the Microsoft console. Super Mario Galaxy has just become the fastest-selling game on the Wii console, but only managed to hit the number five spot in the overall chart.

Meanwhile if you want to get an idea of how Assassin's Creed looks, take a look at this video below.

The chart in full:

1. (-) Assassin's Creed (Ubisoft)
2. (1) Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Activision)
3. (3) The Simpsons Game (EA Games)
4. (2) WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 (THQ)
5. (-) Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo)
6. (6) Dr Kawashima's Brain Training (Nintendo)
