There are those who think the current shortage of Wii games consoles on the market has been created by Nintendo to increase the rarity value of the plucky little console. Not true said Reggie Fils-Amie of Nintendo America.
In an interview with the media he said there was no plan on its part to withhold stocks from eager gamers this Christmas.
"There is no secret plan to store Wiis in a warehouse to spur demand. The company, after all, is trying to reach out to women and 40 and 50-year olds who aren't avid gamers." Said Fils-Amie. "They aren't going to sleep outside of a store overnight or visit a retailer five or six times. It is literally a missed opportunity."
As we reported earlier this week, the Wii is flying off the shelves faster than you can throw a Wiimote at your telly. Amazon UK managed to flog 1,400 Wiis in 10 minutes flat the other week. And finding a Wii in the shops is lot like finding peace in the Middle East.
