The device protects PCs or laptops from the moment it is inserted with its “plug and auto run” function.

Once connected, the USB automatically monitors incoming traffic for viruses and malware with real-time system monitoring.

In addition, users can carry out in-depth hardware scans whenever necessary to verify the presence of infection and perform repairs to cure or delete defected files.

The anti-virus and malware firmware is regularly updated through automatic downloads to ensure maximum protection.

“In today’s high-tech world, computers are continually at risk from viruses and malware,” said Fiona Landsberg, marketing manager at LG Electronics, wiping some pesky bugs from her collar.

“Our latest USB drive has been developed to give people that extra confidence when connected to the internet, ultimately lowering the chances of infection.”

The USB’s anti-virus software comes with a free two-year licence, providing protection to any computer during that time period that is used with the USB.

After two years, users will need to rebuy the licence and although LG hasn’t finalised a price yet, it said the additional licence will be “lower than market cost”.

UPDATE: "As an fyi, we have just had confirmation from HQ that the cost of the licence is currently estimated to be between £10 and £20 per year after the free two-year licence expires," LG said. "Please note this is pending agreement between LG and the software vendor."

This USB is matt black in design with a mirrored front, as now shown in our updated picture.

It comes in various storage capacities, from 512MB to 8GB.
