It would appear that not everyone thought that the Foleo, Palm's ill-fated and stillborn mobile companion, was a bad idea. In fact Celio reckons that its new Redfly Mobile Companion will have the punters flocking to its stand when it launches at the CES next week.

The device features an 8-inch display and measures 1x6x9 inches and weighs two pounds. It also has over 8 hours of battery life and boots instantly. It also adds three new features - instant VGA output, access to USB flash drives, and will charge your smartphone via USB.

It can also change the resolution of your smartphone display so that applications have more display space.

Apparently setting up the device is simple - the REDFLY Interface Driver is loaded on a compatible smartphone and connected via USB or Bluetooth.

The device will cost $499 and works with Windows Mobile smartphones.

But really, if you wanted a small laptop that could work with your smartphone, wouldn't you really just go and get one like this sleek little Asus number.
