That headline isn’t supposed to look like an advert. But after 10 minutes of trying to get all the facts into a few words it’s the best we can do. Besides, if you’re willing to lash out £35 per month on 3's UK Mobile Broadband service, you will get a free Dell Laptop, so it’s actually true. That’s thanks to a deal between mobile phone operator 3 and the Carphone Warehouse, who have come together to offer “a complete mobile broadband solution”.
The package includes a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop and a 3 USB Modem dongle.
The package also includes 3GB of data and 200 text messages each month.
“The deal means customers are now fully equipped to access broadband through their new laptop – on the move – using 3’s Turbo network with average speeds of 2.8MB,” a 3 spokeswoman said quickly, while staying on the move.
While there’s no word on a minimum contract length yet, it’s likely to be the same as T-Mobile’s 24-month contract for that company’s £199 laptop/£20-a-month mobile internet deal.
UPDATE: According to 3's PR spokeswoman, it won't be a 24-month contract: "It’s set at 18 months," she tells us.
