It’s a bugger when stuff doesn’t work how it’s supposed to. Wi-fi (and, come to think about it, Bluetooth) are never quite as easy to set up or connect as they’re supposed to be, in our humble opinion. But the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) is on the case and it seems it’s happy with Nokia’s N95 8GB.
At least that’s what Nokia claims, as it shouts from the highest mountains that the DNLA has handed the Nokia N95 8GB the distinction of being the first ever mobile phone to receive its certification. The DLNA wants stuff to be interoperable, whether they’re wired or wireless consumer devices. That means it’s easier for you (and us) to play with.
“For the consumer, this accolade translates into convenient and intuitive connectivity between your DLNA Certified home electronics devices, personal computers, and your Nokia N95 8GB,” a well-connected Nokia suit said today. “That acknowledgment taps into the genius of this multimedia computer,” Nokia said, modestly. “The extensive connectivity and cutting-edge media capabilities of the Nokia N95 8GB are ideal for enjoying content, such as music, photos or videos, wirelessly on other devices in the home environment.” The DLNA has already certified more than 1,800 products in the personal computer and consumer electronic categories. However, Nokia said this is the first time the stringent guidelines for interoperability set by the DLNA have been met by a mobile phone.
