LG Viewty SilverLG is upping the choice for its Viewty phone, adding a dark silver version. And why not. The company said it shifted more than 550,000 units of the 5-megapixel camera in record sales over the Christmas period.

LG said in Europe alone sales of the Viewty in the first 50 days of sale exceeded those of its Shine and Chocolate handsets.

The company put that down to the Viewty’s “sleek look” and “touchscreen technology”.

LG said it had researched colour preferences across Europe and trend forecasts for 2008 before deciding to release a silver version.

“The silver colour was selected as the number one colour choice of consumers looking for a stylish, polished, premium phone that reflects their own style,” a metallic LG statement said.

As well as the new colour, LG has also re-designed the jog wheel following consumer feedback to make scrolling the menus easier.

The silver version will be available from the end of January 2008, with more colour choices following later in the year.
