If you're the type of person that has to have everything in your living room match perfectly and you have gone with a white colour scheme then up until now you may have delayed your purchase of a PS3 solely because of its black colour. Fret not anymore and prepare to open your hearts and your wallets as Sony is to start selling white PS3 in America.

According to filings made with the FCC, the games console company looks set to unleash the albino model on stateside customers soon. Sony had made the original filing in October but had asked for a bit of confidentiality in the meantime "to avoid premature release of sensitive information prior to marketing or release of the product to the public". Yeah that premature release thing's a worry for a lot of people!

The light-shaded console went on sale in Japan last November for a 40,000 Yen price tag (or £200 - yes £200 - cheap as chips). For that you get a 40GB version of hte console and a white DualShock controller.

As to when gamers in Europe and the rest of the world get a look-in on the white console is anyone's guess.
