SanDisk 32GB Ultra II SDHCOliver Twist. Now there was a boy who always wanted more. Still, he’d have been happy with SanDisk, as the memory company has not only increased the capacity of its SDHC cards, it’s also made them read and write 50 per cent quicker.

The SanDisk Ultra II line will soon boast 16GB and 32GB versions, while SDHC Plus cards will reach 8GB.

According to SanDisk, that 32GB storage space is the “industry-leading capacity” (which means it’s the biggest available).

The cards offer read and write speeds of 15MB per second, up from previous speeds of 10MB per second read and 9MB per second write in the SanDisk Ultra II line.

“As cameras offer more megapixels and as new high-definition ‘record-to-memory-card’ camcorders are being introduced, the image sizes and files get bigger, requiring higher card capacity,” said Susan Park, senior product marketing manager for SanDisk Ultra II cards.

Even regular digital cameras are increasingly used for recording video clips, which demand even more memory and capacity, she said.

The 16GB Ultra II SDHC card will be available worldwide in March and has a suggested price of $179.99, while the 32GB card with MicroMate USB 2.0 Reader will have an RRP of $349.99 when it arrives in April.
