Palm CentroIf you overdid it a bit during the Christmas period, you probably set yourself the task of getting a bit slimmer by February. While the rest of us might be back on the beer and pies, Palm has stuck to its regime and launched Centro – its smallest and lightest smartphone yet.

The new device has email, web access, contact and calendar capabilities, all running on the Palm OS and handled using the full-colour touch screen and keyboard.

Palm said the Centro is designed for individuals and traditional mobile phone users looking to manage their busy lives.

“We are excited about bringing Centro to Europe. Its small size – which incorporates a full keyboard, making text and email easy – is just one of the reasons that traditional mobile phone users are being persuaded to move to smartphones,” said Roy Bedlow, vice president of Palm in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“People want more functionality from their phones, and Centro delivers all the vital communication and organisation needs without compromising on design.”

The black onyx version of the Centro will be priced at a suggested price of £199 when it hits shops at the end of February.
