Got an iMac? Then you don’t have an iPlayer. At least, not yet... But the BBC’s director general says that will be put right “by the end of the year”.
iPlayer, which allows users to watch and download BBC content, currently only works with Windows PCs. It’s been a bit of a hit, with 3.5 million shows being accessed since the official launch at Christmas 2007. Blogging director general Mark Thompson said the Beeb had released the Windows-only software to get it out to the public and make iPlayer "available in the shortest time frame to the greatest amount of users". The BBC first ran beta tests for the programme back in July 2007. The service recently became available on the Firefox web browser.
