Page 1 of 2 Or should that be the £10K movie marathon? Yes, Denon has built what it refers to as the “Imperial Death Star” home cinema system, combining two £4,999 components to create a £10,000 piece of kit.
“The A1HD combo is Denon’s first AV component system for a decade and to our knowledge, is the most advanced, most powerful and best-sounding home cinema system available,” said a pricey press release today. However, despite that cost, Denon claims it is “remarkable value for money” based on the technology included, the flexibility, the massive power and the “insane battleship build quality”. One half of the Denon AVP-A1HD is the THX Ultra2 reference class AV pre/processor worth £4999.99. This network-centric high-definition home cinema AV processor and pre-amp handles HD audio and video, has network and Wi-Fi capabilities and can be utilised by an iPod. Denon said the performance compares to Krell, Meridian and others. (Continued on next page)
