It’s nice to see a genuinely good idea be rewarded with the kudos it deserves. We’ve always admired the USBCell Batteries that plug into your computer and then power your gadgets. And it seems the Cebit panel also thinks highly of them, awarding them the Gold award at the show’s iF Product Design Awards.
“We believe this is very significant, as an AA Battery is basically beating the global might of the consumer electronics/product industry based on being sustainable,” said Moixa’s bio-friendly press release today. Moixa Energy said the award was particularly noteworthy because it is just a small UK company and a British design duo – “so good design, particularly sustainable design, out performs today.” Simon Daniel of Moixa Energy also won the new energy entrepreneur of the year award last week for the same product, at the UK National Energy Efficiency Award. The Cebit ceremony also saw Apple take eight gold awards, while Philips won a gold for its energy saving lamps.
