Panasonic has launched a Skype phone that gives you free communication when you connect to a FON access point. If you’re in Japan, that is...
Panasonic Communication’s Skype WiFi phone set is sold with a wireless router for easy home set up, allowing users to communicate using internet phone calls. “Thanks to the special FON software, in outdoor places, Panasonic WiFi phone users can also connect to the internet for free in over 32,000 FON Spots in Japan, including Skype-to-Skype communications,” a company suit who was probably standing in such a hotspot said today. To use the WiFi set with FON Spots, users need to join FON and register their username and password for the initial usage. Once it has been set up, there’s no need to re-enter your details and the Panasonic phone can also auto log-in when a FON signal has been detected. Why are we telling you this? Well, the Panasonic set is also certified for use in the US, Canada, England, Germany and France. Specs for the Panasonic Communications KX-WP800:
Price: 29,800 Yen (tax included)
