Pentax Optio V20If your digital snapper can’t get as close to subjects as you’d like, perhaps it’s time for an upgrade. After all, Pentax’s latest addition to its Optio V series has 5x optical zoom...

“Forming a 35mm view angle equivalent to 36mm-180mm, the Optio V20 is also equipped with a 1x-5.1x digital zoom, for a total of 25.5x possible magnification,” a zoomed in Pentax boffin said today.

“The camera’s all-purpose lens even has a built in macro feature, which allows users to focus on objects from as little as 10cm away without changing the auto-focus mode.”

The Optio V20 is built on the Optio V10 platform, clocking up 8.0-megapixels and also featuring enhanced face recognition.

In addition to being able to track and focus on faces, it can now use applications like Smile Capture and Blinking Detection as well.

The former will take a picture when subjects are smiling and the latter will warn you someone blinked without you having to check the image in playback mode.
