Operation WolfGamers in Europe should get ready to have a blast thanks to this week’s releases on the Virtual Console. As in the US, you’ll get the chance to download and play Super R-Type. But it’s the Uzi-blasting action of Operation Wolf that’s got our adrenaline pumping.

Originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1989, Operation Wolf sees an elite soldier rescuing a group of innocent civilians held hostage by terrorists.

In the single-player game, you have to shoot your way through enemy-infested jungles and military camps - fending off tanks, helicopters and patrol boats to save the day.

The two new titles join the list of 194 classics already available on the Virtual Console in Europe.

Super R-Type can be downloaded for 800 Wii Points, while Operation Wolf will take 500 Wii Points from your virtual pocket.
