Acer Gemstone Blue 6820 laptopMaybe Acer should think about becoming Azure, as its Gemstone collection of laptops adds a blue range. The colour is heavily featured throughout the new models, but it’s their other design points that should thrill film fans...

The Acer 6920 and 8920 lappies have been created to allow for true 16:9 widescreen playback, using 16-inch and 18.4-inch screens.

Acording to Acer, that also gives 20 per cent more screen space on the 18.4-inch laptop, and 14 per cent more on the 16-inch version.

They also include second generation Dolby Home Theatre and Acer says it is first to market with full surround sound on the 18.4-inch model.

Everything is presented in Dolby (5.1 on the 18.4-inch, 2.1 on the 16-inch) with technology included as standard on the motherboard.

A Cinedash media console also allows you to access content for playback without having to access the whole computer.

A fingerprint scanner will also provide more than secure logon to the laptops.

Scanning a finger will also allow you to go to a password protected website, or open an application or file.

Since one function can be set to each individual finger, that’s 10 possible shortcuts.
