Palm told us the Centro smartphone was flying off the shelves in the US thanks to its popularity with the youth market, and that has been confirmed as the company announced it has sold its one millionth Centro.
Company officials attributed the success of the phone to its price tag.
The device, which was initially introduced in the US in September 2007, accounted for 11 per cent of all domestic mobile phone sales that year.
The phone is currently sold in 10 countries worldwide, but officials indicate there are plans to expand its reach to additional regions.
The Palm Centro launched in the UK on 6 March 2008, with retailers stocking it for £179.95.
