Sony Bravia W4000Sony has announced its latest additions to the Bravia range of televisions. Not only do they show stuff in high-def 1080p, they also function as very large (and fairly expensive) picture frames for digital images...

The LCD television range includes options at 32-inch, 40-inch, 46-inch and 52-inch.

According to Sony, they use an interlocking array of technologies to create “exquisite image quality, offering 1080p Full HD visual excellence for movies, games and photos.”

They also include a special Picture Frame Mode (PFM) designed to enhance a living space by displaying HD photo images when the TV is not in use.

PFM switches the set to a reduced brightness that uses approximately 35 per cent less power than TV viewing mode.

You can personalise your TV with your own pictures from the USB Photoviewer or use the six pre-installed images, which range from pop art to Van Gogh’s Wheatfield with Cypresses.

Features include:
* 1080p Full HD and AVC-HD tuner on all models
* Bravia Engine 2 for next generation picture quality
* Centralised control from the Sony XMB interface, with Bravia Sync technology to command a home theatre system
* 10-bit signal processing and LCD panel yield for 1024 shades of gradation (not on the 32-inch model)
* Wide Colour Gamut Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (WCG-CCFL) to boost the backlight spectrum beyond the limits of standard CCFLs (not on the 32-inch model).
