Page 1 of 2 Panasonic was keen as mustard to show off its new camcorders today, including the Panasonic HDC-SD9 - the worlds smallest and lightest full high-definition movie capturer. And having seen them in action, the reasons are crystal clear...
Seeing as we’ve given it the build up lets start with the big news (or should that be little) which comes in the form of the itty-bitty HDC-SD9. Along with the Full HD experience (1920x1080p), it offers a range of features including Leica Dicomar lens, 10x zoom, optical image stabilzer, face detection, intelligent shooting grid, a pre- record feature and 3CCD ensuring the most vibrant colours stay captured. Before that starts to sound like a press release, we can confirm - having played around with it - that it’s more than decent. But we have to admit having our mugs played back to us in hi-def was certainly an, erm, experience. Also outed was the iccle camcorder’s bigger brother, the HS9. Like an identical twin there’s always some catch. And usually it’s that they are never identical, there is always something different. The HS9, unlike the SD9 (keep up) contains a hard disk rather than just an SD card slot, allowing for storage up to 60GB for a whopping 23 hours of home movies. That’s a lot of Paris Hilton. No word on the HS9 pricing for now, but the dainty SD9 is available for £699 from Panasonic. Be sure to check back here at Absolute Gadget for our review.
