Tesco logoEvery little helps. And launching an online entertainment portal will probably give Tesco a bit more than a little help. Tesco Digital – “a one-stop shop for everybody’s entertainment needs” will initially sell music files, with films following later... Currently Tesco’s music download service is only available in Windows Media format, but the company is moving stock over to MP3s so it’s more universal.

A wider Tesco Digital strategy will offer episodic TV, films and even games in the near future.

“The new Tesco Digital site is more than a music download portal – we wanted to create an exciting and easy-to-use entertainment shop that Tesco customers of all ages and technical ability can use and trust,” said Graham Harris, Tesco’s commercial director.

“We’re starting out with a comprehensive music offering, but customers can expect downloadable TV and films, as well as games to buy very soon.”

Tesco Digital will initially offer customers a choice of over 3.3million music tracks, 1.6million of those in MP3 format.

The site will also include more than 100 free playable Flash games.
