The boffins in the basements at Better Energy Systems have made some important tweaks to the Solio solar charger. And when they were let above ground to test out their work, they found that the new Solio Magnesium stores 40 per cent more power than the flagship Solio Classic.
That’s because it combines the most efficient solar cells with a powerful internal battery to collect and store power.
Those bigging it up for the company said that makes it “the world’s most advanced hybrid charger”, which could “meet the demands of the serious adventurer”.
“Whether you are on holiday, camping or at a festival the Solio Magnesium has a rugged, environmentally friendly shell that can power virtually all hand-held electronic devices,” an official Solio statement said.
“With expanded compatibility and a strong yet elegant magnesium alloy shell, the Solio Magnesium is the most powerful and versatile hybrid charger ever made.”
The device can accept power from either a socket or sunlight, which it uses to charge gadgets at the same rate as if they were plugged in to the wall.
It can store energy in its rechargeable battery for up to a year.
