The Supersmoker comes in four strength levels, depending on the amount of nicotine in there: Normal, Medium, Light and Zero.

“The Zero produces the same vapour but has no nicotine,” Dimitri said.

As well as being better for smokers in more cosmetic ways, with no yellowing of teeth or fingers, it also removes the 40-plus different carcinogenic chemicals released during combustion.

The SuperSmoker sells for £79 in the UK, with each cartridge providing the same number of puffs as approximately 15 traditional cigarettes.

Six refills can be purchased for £7.95 and Kyriakopoulos said a smoker could save up to 65 per cent of their smoking costs by using the product.

With its removable, replaceable tip, SuperSMoker also pointed towards a possible system where people rented the product.

“With a pack of cigarettes costing so much, no-one minds paying £5 to rent it for an evening,” he said.
