You’ve got the super high-def TV. You’ve got the massive standard-def DVD collection. Do yourself a favour, get an upscaling DVD player to bring the two together. Oh look, here’s Sony with one now...
The DVP-NS708H upscaling DVD player reaches the top heights of 1080p resolution for superb picture quality with HD TV.
Which, in English, means all those normal DVDs you’ve ever bought will look like they belong on the screen of your new posh high definition television.
“The highest resolution format your HD TV can display, 1080p presents 1920 x 1080 Full HD images with progressive scanning,” said a particularly high resolution Sony press release.
“This guarantees a richer, more cinematic viewing experience, especially at larger TV screen sizes.”

And if you happen to have a Bravia TV, the DVD player and your telly will use the Bravia Sync for easy, integrated operation from a single TV remote.
According to Sony, it’s also a great way to get even more enjoyment from your precious digital photo collection.
JPEG images burned onto CD or DVD from α digital SLR camera can be enjoyed on a connected Bravia television with breathtaking HD quality.
If your Bravia TV supports PhotoTV HD, still images are optimised further for the ultimate photo viewing experience.
“Here’s the perfect answer for any home theatre fan who wants to get the very best out of DVD movies or their digital photo collection,” repeated Ayhan Akyüz, product manager for DVD Player products at Sony.
