Wondering what to do with that VCR sitting under your telly? Well Metronic’s Gemini Twin Tuner Set Top Box plans to breathe new life into it. Two tuners see – watch one and record stuff on your video with t’other.
The Gemini provides access to over 50 Freeview TV and radio channels, and the twin tuner set-top box can also be used with an analogue DVD recorder. Metronic said there are currently over 25m VCRs and 5m analogue DVDR recorders in use in the UK, but using them in conjunction with a single tuner digital set-top box provides limited recording functionality. Following the digital switchover – with analogue stations being turned off – recording will be restricted even further, as VCR and analogue DVDR users will only be able to record the digital channel they are currently watching.
The set-top-box sells for £60 and features include: The Metronic Gemini is on sale at high street Currys stores and online at Currys Digital.
