Sharp is introducing three TVs into the UK this month, including 19-inch, 32-inch and 37-inch models. The Aquos TVs include Sharp’s first 19-inch HD-Ready LCD, as well as two new “super-slim” 100Hz, 1080p TVs.
Sharp said the 19-inch Aquos LC-19D1E, which stands at just 36cm tall including the stand, packed cutting-edge technology into compact dimensions. That includes PC and HDMI inputs, a claimed contrast ratio of 7500:1, built in freeview, 1,366 x 768 panel resolution and an 176-degree viewing angle. “The 19-inch HD-Ready LCD, which comes in high gloss white or high gloss black, is very stylish and is being pitched as the ultimate TV multi-tasker - perfect for playing console games, as a monitor and also as a great TV,” a Sharp spokeswoman told Absolute Gadget. She also described the 32 and 37-inch models as “good lookers” that were expected to “go down well with customers”. The 1080p XL8E range improves over the 19-inch model by offering dynamic contrast ratios of 10,000:1 and a response time of six milliseconds. There are also three HDMI terminals and all the usual video and audio interfaces to ensure the new Aquos XL8E range will “work seamlessly with new and older-generation peripheral devices”. SRS TruSound provides “crystal clear” audio, while the piano black lacquer finish and simple, clean lines “complement the super-slim frame, demanding attention in any living space”. The Sharp Aquos 19-inch LC-19D1E is available now priced at £349.99, while the 32-inch LC-32XL8E and 37-inch LC-37XL8E will be available mid-July with exact pricing to be announced.
