Sony has launched its first 8GB Memory Stick Micro card, increasing the current 4GB maximum capacity by 100 per cent. Double bubble!
Sony said upgrading a Sony Ericsson mobile with the new M2 (as Memory Stick Micro is also known) will give customers a choice of either: “With so much memory on your phone, easy communication with a PC is a must,” a Sony statement said. “The new, ultra-compact M2 USB adaptor included with 2GB, 4GB and 8GB Memory Stick Micro cards gives you just that in a tiny, easy-to-use format. Having fun has never been simpler.” However, the company is playing catchup, as rival SanDisk has had an 8GB M2 card on sale on Amazon UK since Oct 2007. The new Sony card will be part of a special promotion over the Summer Holidays, along with its 2GB and 4GB Memory Stick Micro products. Customers buying one of those M2 products will be entitled to a free WAP download of the full version of Gameloft’s top-selling Brain Challenge 2.
