galaga.pngSuperlatives can be casually tossed with wild abandon, especially when its E3 and you work for Microsoft. The company announced that South Park and sequels to Galaga and Geometry Wars would make an appearance on the Xbox Live Arcade and that makes it the "best ever line up" for the gaming service.

At the briefing, the company did not reveal the title of the South Park-inspired game but it will feature the main characters Cartman, Kyle, Kenny and Stan. No doubt they will be doing something really controversial (although probably not as controversial as say playing a PS3 or a Wii). In true Cartman style the fat one did say over the tannoy "Can we please, just get back to playing our video game, please" at the briefing.

Microsoft also said that a sequel to Geometry Wars was in the works for an appearance on XBLA, and was being created by Activision-owned studio Bizarre Creations, the people behind Xbox classic Project Gotham Racing.

The “first true sequel” to arcade classic Galaga was also demonstrated. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 debuts exclusively on Xbox LIVE Arcade later this year. The game is being created by Namco Bandai for Live Arcade.
