We just cannot get enough of those little laptops, despite the keyboard
being just that little bit too small to do any proper typing (See our eee PC review). So Chinese laptop manufacturer Lenovo has entered the fray with two new netbooks, IdeaPad S9 and S10.
For a mere $399 (£200) you get a Intel Atom-powered netbook with 512MB
of memory and 80GB of storage (S9). The other computer in the range
(S10) costs $499 (£250) and comes with 1GB of memory and a 160GB hard
drive. The devices come in black, white and red. The S9 features an 8.9 inch screen, while the more expensive S10 features a 10.2 inch screen.
According to Lenovo, these sub-notebook sit somewhere
between a fully-fledged laptop and the mobile phone (much like the eee PC) and should appeal both to consumers and businesses.
"As rapidly as the technology changes, today's consumers are looking
for mobile products that feature the best of basic computing functions
in an extremely compact and affordable form, and Lenovo designed the
IdeaPad netbooks for that purpose," said Lenovo's Liu Jun.
