TomTom reckons it’s set a “new standard for navigation”, with a dynamic route guidance system that “fundamentally improves in-car navigation”. As the press release says, “If there is a faster route, the new TomTom GO x40 Live will find it.”
TomTom’s praise doesn’t end there, with claims that this is its “most innovative product yet”. Adapting to changing road conditions, the GO x40 Live works to offer drivers the fastest route to a destination. The TomTom GO x40 Live series comes in three models: the GO 940, GO 740 and GO 540. All three come with a new and extended version of TomTom's IQ Routes technology, which is now based on historical travel time information for every road, specified for every day of the week, at five minute intervals. TomTom’s High Definition Traffic service is also available for the first time in the UK, Germany, France and Switzerland. “The TomTom GO x40 Live automatically connects to TomTom's exclusive High Definition (HD) Traffic service for the most accurate and detailed live traffic information,” TomTom’s press release said. “If the measured traffic conditions differ from the expected flow rates, the TomTom GO x40 Live will automatically calculate a better, alternative route, if one is available. The expected time of arrival will be adjusted accordingly.” The series also comes with a number of other information services for motorists, including: TomTom Safety Alerts and mobile safety camera positions; up-to-date fuel price information; Google Local Search; and voice command. TomTom Live Services and the TomTom GO x40 LIVE series will be available from Autumn 2008. Suggested retail prices start from £299, including a free three-month trial period for TomTom Live - followed by a monthly, flat-fee subscription of £9.95. |
