Tvonics MDR-250TVonics is on a mission to save even the oldest analogue TV. That’s because you can connect its MDR-250 set-top box either through the standard Scart socket or – for ancient sets - straight into any aerial socket.

The company also hailed the MDR-250 as “the only digital TV receiver to offer you absolute assurance that you are buying a product that has passed all the tests thrown at it with flying colours.”

It was the only digital TV receiver awarded full marks in Digital UK’s consumer scoreboard.

TVonics said that would offer consumers peace of mind, especially following the recent problems experienced by 250,000 Freeview customers who lost their picture during mandatory system upgrades.

Features include:
* Digital text
* An eight-day on-screen TV guide
* Subtitles
* Audio-description for those who are blind or partially sighted
* On-screen TV guide
* Audio-description function gives a narrated version of what is happening on screen to viewers.

“The five TV broadcasters we have all grown to love are currently being converted to digital to give you the choice of over 40 popular TV channels including E4 and Dave, and over 20 radio stations, with no strings attached and no monthly subscription,” said today’s press release.

“But instead of forking out a small fortune on a new TV for Aunt Peggy, or adding to a landfill somewhere by chucking out the old TV in the kitchen, you can simply plug the TVonics MDR-250 into any TV, no matter how old, and upgrade it to digital.”

The TVonics MDR-250 will cost £49.98 including P&P and will be available exclusively from the TVonics website from 8 September.
