PC World has launched a PC that it claims is so energy efficient it uses only 25 watts of power - around half of the power it takes to light a typical household light bulb (60W). The Advent Eco PC is therefore very cheap to run and is barely the size of a shoe box. PC World’s first-ever bespoke energy-saving PC also features an innovative fan-less self-cooling system.
“Based on using a home PC for four hours a day, users can run the Advent Eco PC in Energy Saver mode for around £8 per year, compared to a traditional PC using an average of 105 watts of power and costing more than £43 per year,” a PC World spokesman said.
Despite its low power consumption, it packs in a T5250 core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB Ram and 160GB HDD.
It also boasts Vista Premium, a wireless keyboard and integrated Wi-Fi card.
Simon Betts, senior international buyer at PC World, said the company had gone out of its way to ensure the creation of the machine had been as eco-friendly as possible.
“For example, the case of the Eco PC is made up of 75 per cent recycled materials, packaging has been minimised ensuring that all the manuals – excluding the safety manual – are pre-installed and the setup guide is even printed on the side of the box,” Betts said.
The Advent Eco PC is available today for £599.99 in PC World stores nationwide and online.
