You may think he loves the modern world. After all, he’s transformed himself from a model to a TV presenter to a Radio 1 DJ to the king of ITVs Saturday night (no mean feat when Ant & Dec are usually sucking up those ratings). But Big Vern hasn’t completely embraced high def...

“I have a massive DVD collection, but haven’t gotten around to Blu-ray yet,” he admits.

So, does the flamboyant radio presenter have a game plan when it comes to Blu-ray?

“I always think the second generation of any new technology is better, so I’ll wait,” he says.

With the first versions of any product being a bit buggy - Sony PlayStations, Microsoft Xboxes - even a UK star who clearly likes his TV is willing to wait. But will downloads have replaced Blu-ray by then?
