The BBC's
flagship channels are getting all hip and with it, and will be
available to watch live on the Internet from next week.
BBC 3, 4, News and the kids' channels CBBC and CBeebies are already streamed onto their own websites, and from next Thursday the big boys will join the simulcasting set.
"From 27 November licence fee payers will be able to watch BBC programmes live wherever they are in the UK on their computers, mobile phones and other portable devices," proclaimed Director of BBC vision Jana Bennett.
Since Channel 4 kicked off simulcasting two years ago, the concept has lifted off - Ofcom surveys show that the number of people watching TV on the net has doubled in 12 months.
