If you are a Vodafone user and are just about to head off to Europe then break out the champagne as the mobile operator has dumped roaming charges for its Pay As You Go and it's Anytime or Your Plan customers for the summer.
From 1 June, PAYG and tariff customers will be able to phone, text and send MMS messages for the same cost as using the phone at home. Although this doesn't apply to mobile internet, which can be expensive if you decide to download the whole of Lost when on holiday in Spain.
Users will need to sign up to Vodafone Passport (which is free) to get the service, otherwise usual charges will apply. And the service will finish at the end of August. The same scheme applies to businesses as well (those on an Anytime of Your Plan tariff).
Ian Shepherd consumer director for Vodafone UK, said: "These are two great value offers for our customers this summer. With our Vodafone Passport promotion you can sit on the beach with your phone switched on knowing you can take and make a call just as you would if you were in your back garden."
Makes you wonder how much money the phone companies make from people using their phones abroad doesn't it.
