Sony Ericsson to launch another Windows Phone

Sony Ericsson is trying yet again to have a go at producing a Windows-based smartphone.

The phone is aimed at businesses, presumably the same ones they tell us can only buy Windows-based phones or Blackberrys. Dubbed the Aspen, it runs Windows Mobile 6.5.3.

This is the most current version of the differently successful smartphone software which brings a whole gamut of minor tweaks, such as alternating keyboard layouts, a scrolling widget bar and repositioned function buttons.

It also sports a 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 320 by 240, a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back and a 4x digital zoom. There is also assisted GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G for connectivity.

It is also part of the company's GreenHeart range of environmentally-friendly phones with bio-plastic bodies and recycled keypads.

The phone should be out in the second quarter of this year but there is currently no word on prices.

Sony Ericsson's previous attempt at a Windows phone was the Xperia X1. And we all know how well that did!
